Agitations crop up from dysfunctional divide and discrimination at various levels of state and society which impact adversely on other issues. An entrepreneur is someone who uses initiative to organize a venture with the skill set, courage and will to take extreme risk. Entrepreneurship education is therefore the development of attitudes and skills of young people in order to help them realize their potentials. Entrepreneurship education aims at creating wealth and majority of jobs through small businesses started by young entrepreneurs and go on to become big business. It also equips and provides individuals with relevant skills, knowledge and motivation in various spheres of life from primary, secondary and tertiary education. Such skills like communication, risk bearing, team work, and self-reliance are gifts that can be learnt. The study identified that what young people want most are skills acquisition and mentoring and therefore recommends that government creates enabling government for business and communicate policies to young people on matters that affect them.

PUBLIC RELATIONS STRATEGIES FOR MOBILIZING NIGERIAN WOMEN FOR FULL PARTICIPATION IN ELECTION : NGOZI-OKEY AMALU

ABSTRACT
This study looked at the challenges faced by women in Nigeria in the political process. The emphasis was on their low participation during elections. As a group of the electorate that constitutes over 50% of the Nigeria population it was a thing of worry that their participation level in election was still low. Among the identified reasons of their low participation includes, poverty, lack of education, religion, culture and violence.
The survey method was employed coupled with the new trend of ‘participant observation’ known as “Ethnography” to feel the pulse of the women and see them in their natural setting. Among the public relations strategies adjudged to be effective in their mobilization were market square, town crier, church village square, August meeting, persuasion, lobbing, opinion leaders, and traditional leaders.
Findings of the study revealed that there is a relationship between educational and economic empowerment of women in Nigeria and their low participation in election. It was also discovered that public relations strategies will be effective weapons to mobilize women in Nigeria for full participation in election. It is therefore the recommendation of this study that girl-child education should be encouraged, Nigerian politicians should learn to play politics by the rules to encourage more women into politics, women groups should create awareness for the women on their political rights while public relations enlightenment campaigns should be used to expose the women on what they can achieve with their numerical strength.
